Randi, thanks for the comment and I’m so glad you found something that works for you! Homeschooling is very individual, so that’s all that matters at the end of the day. Good luck with your next pick 🙂

Last year was my first year Homeschooling my daughter (3rd grade), and the choices for curriculum are so overwhelming! I also looked at MFW but it seemed a bit dry and rigorous to me but I could be wrong. I decided to go with A.C.E. and it has worked out wonderfully for us. As a single Mom, I have to have curriculum that is already planned out, and A.C.E. covered all aspects we needed, especially being able to take the PACES with us when needed. We just ordered A.C.E. again for this year (4th). But, I don’t like that ACE repeats itself when teaching & seems to drag on.. So probably after this year we will be changing or at least supplementing. My daughter really enjoys it so that’s a plus! Thank you for all your reviews!

My son Joshua who is 25 years old. Went A small private Christian school. For Pre-Kindergarten they used Abeka. He really liked it a lot and was well prepared for Kindergarten. Lots of workbooks and not many hands on activities. Really sorry I can’t help you more than that.

I’m struggling with the decision to pull our 9 year old twice exceptional son and homeschool. I came across this curriculum and am very intrigued. It would be nice to have a less stressful entry and get my feet wet! I want to do it all perfectly for him but I am scared! I can’t thank you enough and if you ever have time I’d love to pick your brain! This is very important as I am dealing with health issues and need to trust I can do this because I can’t fail him… but him being in public school right now I feel I already am. Thank you again and God Bless you and yours!

Hi Suzanne! So exciting to be starting your first year! I am so excited to tell you that there is no grading in homeschooling – woohoo! Your elementary-level daughter will be focused on the wonder and love of learning! Yes, you will correct her work, but only for things she doesn’t understand. You will be so dialed into what she excels at and what she needs to work on that grading will be unnecessary. I know it sounds scary, but trust me – it will set both of you free. Enjoy MFW!

This will be my first year homeschooling my daughter (4th grade) and we’re excited for the MFW curriculum. I was wondering how the grading works… do you keep track in a certain way? Thanks!

Hi Lauren, I don’t know if I’ll remember to check for your response! I am basically living in the same time period you wrote this post! We are moving away from MFW and looking into other curriculums. Your dislikes are the same as ours! I’m wondering what you have looked into and decided to go with for your kiddos? I have three boys so I’m a little opposite of you haha…getting them to sit and listen and learn can often be a challenge most days!

Hi Veronica! I have heard a lot about Abeka, but I have never used it myself. I have always been told that Abeka can be very heavy, advanced, and dry. Essentially exactly like regular school, but at home. Every child is different though, so your kid may love it! Go with your gut and what you think your child will enjoy. If you’re sold on a box curriculum, I would also look into BookShark, Sonlight, and Horizons.
